This process involves the conduction of the oil through regenerating agents (i.e. molecular screens, Fullers Earth) to retain all by-products of ageing such as acids, sludges, etc. which would otherwise defy filtering through mechanical screens.

State-of-the-art plants are designed to retain the regenerating agents in special reaction containers which normally take turns in treating the supplied oil by subjecting it to internal regeneration processes.

For that reason one set of regenerating agents can be used for as many as 200 cycles. As a result, the end user is never faced with the problem of waste disposal. Once the regenerating agents have reached the end of their service life, they are appropriately disposed of in an environmentally compatible manner.
